African Afternoon Soap

African afternoons are intense. The sun gets white hot, the colours intensify, the air doesn’t move and even the sounds seem muted as if too lazy to travel through the intense heat. Momentarily subdued insects, birds and animals gather in the dappled shade of big trees in wait for the first cool breeze of evening. Humans take refuge from the sun on shady stoeps and under thatched roofs and dream of cool showers..

Made with red rooibos (Aspalathus linearis) infusion and powder, African wild flower honey and silk from the wild African mopane silk worm (Gonometa rufobrunnea).
